Understanding Botox

Botox Cosmetic (onabotulinumtoxinA) is an FDA-approved neuromodulator that temporarily relaxes overactive facial muscles to soften dynamic wrinkles: the lines caused by repeated muscle movement, like squinting, frowning, and raising your brows. When injected with precision, Botox does not freeze your face. It refines it. The result is a face that looks refreshed, rested, and authentically yours, not overdone.

The process

Botox works by blocking acetylcholine at the neuromuscular junction: the chemical signal that tells a muscle to contract. With that signal interrupted, the targeted muscle relaxes. The overlying skin, no longer being repeatedly folded, begins to smooth. Results typically appear within 3–7 days and reach full effect at 2 weeks. Most patients enjoy results for 3–4 months, with preventive users often extending duration over time as the targeted muscles become conditioned.

Botox treatments & options

Forehead Lines & Glabellar 11s

Softening of horizontal forehead lines and the vertical frown lines between the brows, the most common Botox treatment areas. Both are balanced carefully to maintain natural expression.

Crow's Feet & Brow Lift

Crow's feet injections relax the orbicularis oculi for a smoother eye corner. Strategic lateral brow injections can lift the outer brow for a more open, refreshed appearance.

Lip Flip & Perioral Lines

A small amount of Botox injected above the upper lip relaxes the orbicularis oris, creating a subtle eversion of the lip: more upper lip show without filler. Also used to soften vertical lip lines.

Masseter Reduction & Jaw Slimming

Injecting the masseter muscle reduces its bulk over time, softening a square jawline and addressing bruxism-related jaw tension and headaches.

TrapTox: Trapezius & Neckline

Injections into the upper trapezius muscle reduce its bulk and tension, creating a more elongated neck-to-shoulder line and often relieving chronic tension headaches.

Microbotox & Hyperhidrosis

Microbotox (intradermal injections) refines pore size and skin texture on the face. Hyperhidrosis treatment targets sweat glands in the underarms, palms, or forehead to dramatically reduce excessive sweating.

Common questions about Botox

Most patients see results for 3–4 months. Patients who use Botox consistently often find their results last longer over time as the targeted muscles become conditioned. The masseter and trapezius treatments typically last 4–6 months.

The injections use a very fine needle and most patients describe the sensation as a brief pinch. Topical numbing cream is available for sensitive areas. Most patients find the treatment very tolerable and are comfortable returning to daily activities immediately after.

You will begin to notice relaxation in the treated muscles within 3–5 days. Full results are visible at 2 weeks, which is why Devorah schedules a complimentary 2-week follow-up to assess symmetry and make any small refinements if needed.

The amount varies by treatment area, muscle strength, and desired effect. During your consultation, Devorah assesses your anatomy and discusses your aesthetic goals to determine the right dosing for you. Botox is never one-size-fits-all.

Yes. Using Botox before static lines (lines visible at rest) fully develop can prevent them from deepening. Many patients in their late 20s and 30s use low doses preventively, training their muscles to contract less over time.

For the first 4 hours after treatment: avoid lying flat, strenuous exercise, and rubbing the treated areas. After 24 hours, there are no significant restrictions. Avoid facials and facial massage for 2 weeks.
