GLP-1 Weight Management
GLP-1 medications have redefined what's possible in medically supervised weight loss. Devorah combines the medication with real metabolic assessment, personalized guidance, and ongoing oversight. The prescription is just the beginning.
“Real. Lasting. Clinically safe, always under Devorah's full medical oversight.”
Understanding GLP-1 Program
GLP-1 (glucagon-like peptide-1) receptor agonists are a class of medications originally developed for type 2 diabetes that have demonstrated remarkable efficacy for weight management in clinical trials. Semaglutide (the active ingredient in Ozempic and Wegovy) and tirzepatide (Mounjaro, Zepbound) work by mimicking natural GLP-1, a hormone released after eating that tells your brain you are full, slows gastric emptying, and regulates blood sugar. The result is reduced hunger, earlier satiety, and substantial weight loss in appropriately selected patients.
The process
GLP-1 receptor agonists bind to GLP-1 receptors in the pancreas (stimulating insulin, suppressing glucagon), the stomach (slowing emptying), and the brain (signaling fullness and reducing appetite). Tirzepatide adds a second mechanism: activating GIP receptors, which enhances the GLP-1 effect for greater weight loss. Both medications are administered as weekly subcutaneous self-injections, started at a low dose and gradually increased to your effective therapeutic dose. This gradual process, called titration, minimizes GI side effects.
GLP-1 Program treatments & options
Semaglutide (Ozempic / Wegovy)
A weekly GLP-1 receptor agonist injected subcutaneously. Titrated from 0.25mg weekly up to 2.4mg (Wegovy dosing) for weight management. Clinical trials show 15–17% average body weight reduction at 68 weeks.
Tirzepatide (Mounjaro / Zepbound)
A weekly dual GIP + GLP-1 receptor agonist, the first in its class. Clinical trials (SURMOUNT-1) show up to 22.5% average body weight reduction at 72 weeks, making it the most effective approved GLP-1-class medication for weight loss.
Metabolic Assessment
Comprehensive baseline labs including fasting glucose, HbA1c, lipid panel, thyroid, metabolic panel, and body composition analysis to personalize your program and track progress objectively.
Nutrition Guidance
Practical nutrition counseling focused on protein adequacy, meal timing, and dietary patterns that complement the medication, preventing muscle loss and supporting sustainable habits during active weight loss.
Lipo MICC IM Shot Add-Ons
Methionine, inositol, choline, and B12 shots added to your GLP-1 program to support active fat metabolism, liver function, and energy during the weight loss phase.
Ongoing Check-Ins & Dose Management
Regular follow-up appointments with Devorah for dose adjustments, side effect management, lab monitoring, and long-term maintenance planning, ensuring your progress is medically supervised throughout.
Am I a good candidate?
GLP-1 programs are appropriate for adults with a BMI ≥ 30, or ≥ 27 with a weight-related condition, who are committed to a medical approach to weight management.
- Adults with a BMI ≥ 30 (obesity) or BMI ≥ 27 with a weight-related condition (diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol)
- Those who have tried diet and exercise without achieving adequate weight loss
- Patients with type 2 diabetes seeking both blood sugar control and weight reduction
- Anyone seeking a clinically supported alternative to bariatric surgery
- Patients who have lost weight but struggle with weight regain (GLP-1s support maintenance)
- Those committed to working with a medical provider for ongoing oversight and dose management
Why patients choose this
- Average 15–22% body weight reduction in clinical trials
- Reduces cardiovascular risk factors (blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol)
- Medically supervised with ongoing oversight from Devorah
- Combination approach: medication + nutrition + metabolic monitoring
- Lipo MICC add-ons for enhanced fat metabolism
- Long-term maintenance planning to prevent weight regain

Semaglutide activates only GLP-1 receptors. Tirzepatide activates both GLP-1 and GIP receptors, a dual mechanism that produces greater average weight loss (up to 22.5% vs. ~15–17% with semaglutide in clinical trials). Devorah will help you determine which medication is most appropriate for your goals and medical history.
The most common side effects are GI-related: nausea, constipation, and occasionally vomiting, especially during dose increases. These typically improve as your body adjusts. Starting at a low dose and titrating slowly (which Devorah manages) minimizes side effects significantly.
Not necessarily. Many patients use GLP-1s as a tool to achieve their goal weight, then work with Devorah on a maintenance plan. Some patients transition off medication with dietary and lifestyle strategies in place. Others choose to continue long term for weight maintenance, similar to how someone manages blood pressure with ongoing medication.
Rapid weight loss from any cause can include some muscle loss. Devorah's program includes protein guidance and Lipo MICC shots to support muscle preservation. Adequate protein intake (1g per pound of goal body weight) and resistance training are also important during active weight loss.
Most patients notice reduced appetite within the first few weeks. Measurable weight loss typically begins in weeks 4–8 as the dose increases. Significant results are usually visible by months 3–6.
GLP-1 medications are FDA-approved for adults with BMI ≥ 30, or ≥ 27 with a weight-related comorbidity (diabetes, hypertension, sleep apnea, etc.). They are not appropriate for patients with a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma or multiple endocrine neoplasia type 2 (MEN2). Devorah will review your full medical history during a candidacy consultation.
