PRP Hair Restoration
Hair loss doesn't have to be permanent. PRP delivers concentrated growth factors directly to the scalp, signaling dormant follicles to enter the active growth phase, thickening existing hair, and slowing progressive loss.
“Reactivate dormant follicles with your body's own growth factors.”
Understanding PRP Hair Restoration
PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) hair restoration uses the growth factors concentrated in your own platelets to stimulate hair follicle activity. A small blood draw is centrifuged to isolate the platelet-rich layer, which contains potent growth factors including PDGF (platelet-derived growth factor), VEGF (vascular endothelial growth factor), EGF (epidermal growth factor), and IGF-1 (insulin-like growth factor). These are the same signals your body uses to heal tissue. When injected into the scalp, they send dormant (telogen) follicles back into the active growth phase (anagen), thicken miniaturized hairs, and increase the follicle's blood supply.
The process
A small blood sample (20–30mL) is drawn and spun in a centrifuge for 10–15 minutes to separate and concentrate the platelet-rich plasma. The scalp is cleansed and a topical anesthetic is applied. Devorah then injects the PRP into the scalp at multiple points in the thinning areas using a fine needle. The process takes 20–30 minutes. Most patients experience mild scalp soreness for 24–48 hours. A series of 3–4 treatments spaced 4–6 weeks apart is recommended for initial results, followed by maintenance sessions every 3–6 months.
PRP Hair Restoration treatments & options
PRP Scalp Injections: Initial Series
Three to four sessions spaced 4–6 weeks apart to maximize follicle stimulation and re-entry into the anagen (growth) phase. Most patients notice reduced shedding and increased density within 2–3 months of starting.
PRP Maintenance Sessions
Quarterly or semi-annual maintenance injections to sustain and extend results. Hair follicles respond to ongoing growth factor stimulation, and maintenance sessions help preserve gains and slow future progression.
Microneedling + PRP Scalp
Scalp microneedling prior to PRP injection creates micro-channels that enhance PRP penetration and further stimulate the scalp's healing response. Combining the two may improve results over PRP alone.
Am I a good candidate?
PRP hair restoration is most effective for patients in the earlier stages of hair loss with existing follicles that can be reactivated.
- Adults experiencing androgenetic alopecia (male or female pattern hair loss)
- Those with diffuse hair thinning across the crown or temples
- Patients with telogen effluvium (sudden hair shedding after stress, illness, or hormonal change)
- Those in the early-to-moderate stages of hair loss with active follicles remaining
- Patients wanting a non-surgical, natural approach using their own biology
- Those looking to complement or enhance results from topical treatments (minoxidil) or oral medications (finasteride)
Why patients choose this
- Natural: uses your own blood-derived growth factors
- No surgery, no systemic medications, no downtime
- Reduces shedding and increases hair shaft diameter within 2–3 months
- Effective for both male and female pattern hair loss
- Can be combined with topical minoxidil or oral finasteride for enhanced results
- Ongoing maintenance sessions preserve and extend results

Most patients notice a reduction in shedding within the first 4–8 weeks. Visible density improvement typically develops over 3–6 months as stimulated follicles complete their growth cycle. Full results from the initial series are usually visible at 6 months.
Multiple clinical studies support PRP's efficacy for androgenetic alopecia, showing increased hair count, density, and thickness in treated areas. Results vary by individual, degree of hair loss, and underlying cause. PRP is most effective for patients who still have active follicles in the thinning areas.
PRP, minoxidil, and finasteride work through different mechanisms and can be used together for enhanced results. PRP directly stimulates follicle activity with growth factors. Minoxidil extends the anagen phase topically. Finasteride blocks DHT systemically. Devorah can help you determine the right combination for your situation.
Topical numbing cream is applied before injections. Most patients describe the sensation as mild pressure and occasional brief stinging. The scalp may be sore or tender for 24–48 hours after treatment. This resolves without medication.
An initial series of 3–4 sessions spaced 4–6 weeks apart is the standard starting protocol. After the initial series, maintenance sessions every 3–6 months are recommended to sustain results.
The most common cause is androgenetic alopecia (genetic pattern loss), and PRP works well for this. PRP also addresses telogen effluvium (stress/hormonal shedding) effectively. It is less effective for alopecia areata (autoimmune) or scarring alopecia. Devorah will assess your hair loss pattern and likely cause before recommending treatment.
